Who isn’t left awestruck when thinking about the history of ancient herbs and spices? All those plants exist since the beginning of time, offering their beneficial properties to those that incorporate them into their lives. Anasa Zois is the “love child” of Penelope with nature, an affair of respect and admiration and an idea which was in the works for 3 years. Through the products of Anasa Zois and with meticulous attention to quality, Penelope aspires to help people discover the power of Greek herbs and spices, to introduce them into their daily life but also to improve their routine and by extension, their health.

Saffron or Crocus
A precious condiment of ancient civilizations, saffron (Crocus Sativus) has remained among the world’s most costly substances throughout history while its use spans more than 3.000 years. Also known as crocus, it takes 75,000 saffron flowers to make one pound of saffron spice, which is what makes it so expensive.
Greek mountain Tea
Interwoven with Greece’s history since antiquity, mountain tea (also known as ironwort and shepherd’s tea) was considered the beverage of the Gods and the Titans. It was also hailed by several ancient Greek writers, as well as Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, for its immune-boosting benefits.
Oregano
The history of oregano dates back to the ancient times and it is considered to be one of the most popular spices in Greek cuisine. In ancient Greece and Rome, it was a symbol of prosperity; hence, it was used to weave wreaths for wedding ceremonies. According to the Greek mythology, the plant was created by the goddess Aphrodite who named it “the herb of joy”.
